United Airlines (1994)

In 1994, United launched
Shuttle by United, an "airline within an airline" which was a low cost attempt, aimed at regaining the market share lost to low cost competitors such as Southwest. Yet another example of long established carriers trying to fight the LCC model on their own grounds, copying some things from the low fares airlines (Shuttle was a single-fleet,  all e-ticket service at the time with a simpler fare system, etc) while keeping some of the services traditionally provided such as inline connections or frequent flyer schemes
